HAPPENINGS---September 2021---Darkwater Women in Music Festival

This September, I was supposed to travel to Pembroke, North Carolina, to perform at UNC Pembroke's Darkwater Women in Music Festival. However, COVID rates are still very high, and the festival went virtual.

Instead of performing live, I shared my music videos of Jessi Harvey's "8 Months" and Kim Farris-Manning's "Od-ieu", and spoke on a panel about my process of creating music during a time of isolation. Both my music and my discussion points were well-received, and it was great to meet women in music exploring similar topics in their work from around the country. I'm grateful pieces from my doctoral research are so captivating to audiences. I promised myself I would take those pieces as far as they want to go, and I'm enjoying watching them grow legs as I do just that.
